Essential Techniques

 

To complete this project we have learnt many diffrent techniques, all essential for the creation of our projects. The main skills which we have developed are Lifecasting, Sculpting and Moulding. Without learning and developing these skills it would not be possible to create a final prosthetic piece or create any kind of character makeup and design this therefore highlights their importance.

 

For each of these skills there is a very personal methodology allowing the creation of various outcomes with differing techniques, I have read many books and watched DVDs detailing the techniques used by makeup artists. Todd Debrecini's book Special Makeup Effects details many methodologies to create a successful lifecast, sculpt and mould. Similarly Stan Winstons Academy DVDs detail the professional, in-depth process of creating  a lifecast, sculpt and mould for use in the industry. 

 

Part of this project has been to understand websites and blogging thereforeI have looked at existing sites in order to pick at elements which work and understand which do not. I have also looked at the uniformity of the overall site as this is an important element of creating a successful outcome. For this element of my research I have looked at sites such as blogger, word press and many others, I have looked at exisitng websites such as Millennium FX as these give me an idea of the design of a professional makeup website. Technology is becoming a bigger part of the makeup industry and it is therefore essential to keep up to date with existing sites and methods of conveying work and ideas to other artists.
